Cross-border E-discovery, even when well-executed, can be time-consuming and costly. Any practitioner who has grappled with a multi-language data set can attest, hiring an army of native-language reviewers or engaging in wholesale human translation of foreign language data sets can be extremely expensive and time-consuming propositions.
Luckily, there is a better way. Machine translation, when used correctly, is more cost- and time-effective than manual translation as a first cut in the process.
